Ceramic art – a prehistoric art form

Ceramics as an art form has existed in human life for longer than we can remember. In all the cultures of the world - existing as well as disappeared - we can find evidence of how ceramic art has been important to us for millennia. Surely you have heard about the ceramic figurine Venus from Dolní Věstonice. It is one of the oldest and most famous ceramic findings in the world, which is said to have been created from loose soil already around 26,000 BC.

Ceramic art is a broad genre where the works can take on many different expressions. Common to all ceramic art, however, is that they are made of ceramic materials, such as clay, porcelain and concrete. With various techniques such as turning, patting, rolling, curling, casting or thumbing, you can shape and manipulate the materials into three-dimensional works of art. They can then be decorated with, for example, matt/glossy glazes, markers, milk paint or liquid gold.

Unique interior detail with a ceramic sculpture

A beautiful ceramic sculpture can really lift a room, regardless of interior style. Let a single ceramic sculpture take center stage or create beautiful still lifes together with other fine interior details. Large or small, figurative or abstract, discreet or extravagant, correctly placed in the home, ceramic sculptures become interesting details that draw the eye.
