Glass art – a strong tradition in Scandinavia

Glass art - sometimes also called art glass - is a very old and rich tradition. Already during antiquity and in the ancient Orient, glass art was produced, but it is believed that the human began melting glass as early as 5000 BC in Persia.

 

Even in Scandinavia, art in glass is an old and strong tradition. Not least here in Sweden, where the so-called exaggeration method was developed. It is a technique for creating patterned glass in different colors, with which they started working at Kosta bruk in the 1890s. Today we have many famous glassworks and glass artists in Sweden.
