Chris grew up in the beautiful, small village of Menheniot, Cornwall, England. Whilst young he had a natural talent for painting, sketching and perspective and won many Britain-wide young artist competitions and awards via the local school for his sketches of wild birds.

Chris continued his artistic talents in higher education and has a natural gift for perspective and of being able to visualize and paint on location.

In his working career he also used his natural talent for graphic design and illustrating of equipment for presentation material and user manuals.

Chris has travelled the Middle East and painted scenes of ‘old Arabia’ from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Chris has painted throughout his life, wherever he is… from Cornwall to the Middle East, to Dartington Hall, England, and now in Frigiliana in Andalucia, Spain and Nässjö in Sweden. He can often be seen on location in Frigiliana painting, or just wandering around and visualizing for his next piece.

Artist's Statement.
My style is either ‘painterly’ or ‘realism’.

I usually paint in acrylic and more recently also with oils. Depending on the subject matter, I will decide on one or the other medium I think will suit best. My technique in either is the same, though, multiple layers starting with imprimatura.

When I am painting a scene on commission, I often add some nice surprise points, unique to the commissioner, which gives the finished painting that added ‘extra’, making it truly unique for just them.

I consider tone, detail and perspective as the key to my art and I try to give the viewer the feeling of ‘being there’, on scene.

I love people... I enjoy talking about places and my art and sometimes people give me that extra input needed to make the painting right! So please, if you see me painting – come and look and talk, it makes my day.
