Rene Jacobsen is a creative soul who has been influenced by his experiences and his family. He uses art as a means of communication and expression, and hopes to spread his message of cooperation and understanding through his exhibitions. He is truly dedicated to his work and is eager to continue sharing his passion with the world.
Rene Jacobsen is a 64-year-old Danish artist who was raised in Copenhagen. He has lived in several places in Denmark and has been exposed to a wide range of cultures and experiences. This exposure has made him highly creative in the way he sees things, and the way he creates.
Rene has always been fascinated by creativity in all its forms, from museums and churches to art galleries. And he is always on the lookout for new and innovative forms of creativity.
- I'm not religious, but I always want to see other people's creativity and I've always been fascinated by strong and bright colors. I think art is one of the few places we can communicate over the borders, says Rene Jacobsen.
Creativity has been a part of Rene's life from the very beginning. He comes from a creative family, with his brother being a musician and his mother being a singer when she was young. This has been an integral part of his upbringing and he has always been creative in his thinking and writing. He has written several scripts and his family has always utilized his creativity in different ways.
In his youth, Rene was drawn to art and photography, but life took a different turn when he met his wife and they both prioritized their life together. They were married for 34 years until she passed away from cancer six years ago. After her death, Rene took up painting as a means of coping with his loss. He says that writing can be more mentally challenging, and painting allows him to escape into his emotions and bring him a sense of peace.
– The paintings let you flow into the emotions and there is nothing else that brings me that peace, says Rene Jacobsen.
Rene's paintings are an expression of his thoughts and emotions. He describes his style as German expressionism mixed with Neo-ekspressionism, characterized by strong and symbolic colours. He wants his viewers to create their own stories from his paintings, and not be limited by his own interpretation. Rene finds inspiration in his travels, particularly in Africa, where he is struck by the bright colors and the way people live in different standards. But also bigger cities like New York and Rome brings him great inspiration.
Rene's goal is to set up art schools for young students in Nairobi. He believes that by learning from each other, people from different cultures can better understand each other and work towards making the world a better place. He calls this "cooperative learning," and he hopes to use art as a means of communication and to highlight some of the problems that people face. A way to communicate the means of the The 17 Sustainable Development Goals for our planet.
– I believe we have a lot to learn from each other. They have different life experiences than the most of us in Sweden and Denmark. I hope to communicate through art to highlight the problems, says Rene Jacobsen.
Rene's paintings have been exhibited in several galleries, including KM Gallery in Copenhagen, and he has had exhibitions in Rome, Barcelona, Milan, and Belgium. He is preparing for an exhibition this summer with another artist named Shefali Anthi. Rene is also planning an exhibition in Nairobi, Kenya, in October 2023, which he considers to be the most meaningful exhibition of his career.
– I'm very glad and thankful for the exhibitions, but the most meaningful to me is the one in Nairobi. I think this will be enough for 2023, I need to have time to make the paintings as well, says Rene.
