Visual artist Mag Blue explores the energy that surrounds us

2022-09-30

Mag Blue is a multitalented artist based in Sweden. Inspired by her surroundings she works with painting, photography, sculpture and design. She also makes installations and performances, and has initiated and produced several cultural concepts.

– I always feel, after finishing work, that something extraordinary has happened inside me, and this feeling is addictive, Mag says.

With numerable artistic projects and awards behind her, Mag Blue is a renowned artist. In 2019 she won the Diploma for Merits of the Minister of Culture and Cultural Heritage and she is a member of several art and photography associations in Sweden, France and the USA. Mag’s art is exhibited almost all over the world, and the largest private collection of her pictures is in New York.

How would you describe your artistry?

– I approach painting serially. As a rule, the topic is related to what I feel, find and explore at the moment. I explore what fascinates me, what I currently live, and this is how a new series of paintings is created. I have departed from realism for a long time in my painting. The last series of paintings that came close to realism was Body Language and still single paintings are available. Since photography is also an important medium for me, here I realize myself in reality. In painting, I create, and in photography I look for the fleeting moment, light, shadow, color or monochrome in a reality.

Through experimenting with various techniques Mag Blue often combines them in search for new solutions. Sometimes she paints on photos, other times she creates metal installations and sculptures that refer to, or complement, the main theme.

– For me, performance is on the highest vibrations because I can show, say more and evoke emotions in viewers live or through recorded video. Sometimes, in order to enhance the message of black and white photographs, or to give them a new message, I paint on them. This was the case, for example, in the TIMING series, which in the first instalment was monochromatic, and the hand-painted details were only intended to emphasize the 3D effect in combination with brushed aluminium. But the war in Ukraine changed my perspective on these photos and then I gave them a new meaning by adding symbolism and colours.

Regardless of what technique she uses, Mag's art is eloquent and captures an awareness of her surroundings.

– It's not about legends or other fairytales or stories, but about what happens in us, in nature, and what sciences such as psychology, physics, biology or chemistry have long been confirming. I analyse the phenomena occurring in nature and their impact on our life, quantum physics, electromagnetic waves, vibrations and phantom interactions. What are human energy centres and how can we regulate them ourselves?

For Mag it is not about explaining what, or how it works, but to pay attention to some of these phenomena in our own context.

– These are just some of the issues that I explore in my latest paintings, how much our quality of life depends on what we eat, say, think, how we react to what happens to us and where it can lead us, and how important it is to be aware of your needs, beliefs and values. How to love and respect yourself while remaining accepted and in harmony with the surrounding world. How important it is to be open to what life brings us. How to change our lives can get rid of the patterns and blockages that limit us, what pulls us down and what strengthens us.

Mag firmly believes that everything that surrounds us is energy and that we ourselves are energy. According to her it is about how to steer it and how to let it flow. Her interest is mainly in the scientific approach to the source, the human resonance regarding the earth pulse and how to live in harmony with it to reduce the risk of disease or failure and aim for the best version of our future.

– What are brainwaves for and, for example, human energy centres. Each human emotion receives a “frequency” based on whether it cultivates a primarily positive or negative mindset. How to understand the understanding of the emotional vibrations scale?

You recently changed your artistic pseudonym, why?

- I broadened my awareness, started a new life and changed my surname, so it was time for a new artistic pseudonym.

The 8th to the 13th of October Mag will have a solo exhibition entitled VIBES at Galleri Englesson in Stockholm. After the opening, there will also be the premiere of the paintings from the VIBES series at Artportable.

– Consciousness obliges me to create with good energy and high vibrations, and above all in accordance with positive intentions. My life is changing amazingly and every day it is more extraordinary, and I wish you all that.
