About me

My name is Pia Dina Meyer and I’m a new member at Artportable as a Visual Artist. I have an education in Textile Design and have been teaching it to other since 1989 at Nykøbing F seminar. I have taught my subject in all different kinds of schools such as; production schools, junior high schools, private schools, evening schools, colleges, and I’ve also been a guest teacher at several schools in the local area.

In my spare time I have made costumes and scenography for several local theater performances. I have been drawing and painting ever since I was a little child. I only had a few years break under my busy and exciting youth.

For the last 20 years I have been concentrating on the Visual Arts. In 1986 I went to Copenhagen’s Art School for a year. Over the years I have participated in inspiring painting courses with various artists, most recently November 2020 at Finnerman in Nykøbing F.

For 7 years I have been a member of an art group called ”Møn Amateur Artists”. We paint together once a week, have guest teachers every years and we also take on several exhibitions together. Every summer we have a group exhibition in the local library’s showroom, it’s very popular. I have exhibited several times at the library, for example in late 2019 when I exhibited 200 artworks. I also have exhibit my art in galleries, banks, cafes, and in the local newspaper, as well as a number of years in the summer in Kunstnerstræde, which I helped start 30 years ago.

I find inspiration everywhere: In nature, animals, people, stories, media objects and styles for example cubism. I challenge myself in motives choice, colors, technique, methods and materials. In the year 2021 I will publish a coloring book. I like to draw and paint for commission works.
