Artist
I am a designer and sculptor, who sometimes ventures into painting, illustration and various crafts. There are so many fun and exciting things to try out, and I love the variation. For more than 15 years I have been working as industrial designer in large international companies, and to wrestle problems and find innovative solutions is something I really enjoy. It’s a great job, but there are always clear boundaries on what can be done within a project. Somewhere I feel an urge to let my own creativity run loose, without limitations and restrictions. For this reason, I have always been exploring various artistic subjects, from painting and sculpture to jewelry making. I feel at my best when I’m able to balance these worlds. I have always been fascinated by form. Some forms, like a Bernini sculpture is like a novel with all the details and emotions that are expressed, while other more abstract ones are like short poems. There is something about the three dimensional, the way the form alters depending on where you look at it from, how the surfaces and depth directions are interconnected that makes it so intriguing.
I am slightly obsessed by sweeping and winding shapes, often in various knot shapes, both as larger sculptures and as small necklaces. Sometimes I feel as if I have found an acrobatic trick in a certain gestalt, when there is a rhythm and a movement with enough complexity and elegance, almost like a circus or gymnastic movement of the shapes.
