Anne Brit Nordahl

About me

I live and work in Kirkenes, Finnmark Norway.

I’ve got education from both Norway and USA; Masters Degree in Visual Arts. I am originally a fiber artist, weaving wall hangings. I did a Thesis about shaft-switching and I started painting after taking a course of intuitive painting in Italy 2012; after that, I have attended many courses in different painting techniques with acrylics.

I paint both almost naturalistic and more abstract, often combining these in my works. My motifs are often old houses combined with some Sami elements in a flat northern landscape. I prefer the vigorous colours of Finnmark, the fantastic variations in colours of the sky up here the whole year around, from the northern lights to the midnight sun.

My saying is: ” To not paint is not an option.”

I make acrylic paintings with a variety of tools: brushes, printroller, knife and more.
I addition to acrylics I use charcoal and oil some times.

I’m inspired by the beautiful nature and colours of Finnmak, Norway, and also by the sami culture and especially old houses. I can also be inspired by music, painters and paintings as well as photos.

Current projects:

I have some vague plan to paint houses on both sides of our border to Russia.
